Landmark Homes Coromandel’s first showhome, which is a brand new Ready to Build plan, is an entertainer’s dream. It makes the most of both indoor living and outdoor entertaining, with an open plan kitchen/dining/family area leading into a covered patio outside.

The best part? The views. From all key areas of the home the water is visible, with the feeling of being close to town but just a stone’s throw from nature (literally).

“We wanted to design a home that maximized the proximity to the water. You feel like you’re right on top of it,” says Landmark Homes Coromandel Managing Director Will Quigley, “It has instant impact as soon as you walk through the front door and continues throughout the home.  We’ve also been aesthetically creative with the materials we have used.  We have previously worked a lot with Linea for cladding, and this time we wanted to do something different with the look of the home so we opted for honed block and Linea Oblique, another James Hardie product that can be installed both vertically and horizontally.”

Naturally, the open plan decking space – housed under the pavilions – is the home’s main feature. Under the eaves is a private outdoor fire place, which transitions you from inside to the outdoors with ease.  Wrapping around the back of the home, the deck links this space with an entertaining area adjacent, and carries on to the entranceway and the master bedroom.

There’s plenty of opportunity for compartmentalisation as well, for those who like private time. The media room, or family room, at the back of the home has an elegant sliding door that creates a perfect cosy and comfortable haven, and can become a private space if required.

At 262m2, this is not the ‘classic Kiwi bach’ as we once knew it, but Will says bigger homes by the beach are becoming the new normal.

“There has been a real cultural shift. Living by the beach was once thought to be for holiday homes, now people may build with the intent to use it as a holiday home first but with a long-term view to one day retire there.”

There’s certainly been plenty of interest in this lifestyle and the kind of home that goes with it, with resoundingly positive feedback from the showhome’s opening weekend.

“Everyone was just blown away by that view and really impressed with the layout of the house,” says Will.

“Visitors also commented positively on the way it has been finished and the furnishings, as well as the lighting, which all give it a lovely feeling of home.

“There is a real warmth to it that makes the visitor feel welcome – often new homes can be bit stark and uninviting, but this one feels like a home.”
