WE ARE YOUR LOCALS

Coromandel & Hauraki

The Coromandel Peninsula is one of New Zealand’s most prized holiday destinations – and the perfect location for a dream home.

Whether you’re looking to escape the humdrum of city life for the weekend or just spend your retirement by the sea, Landmark Homes Coromandel and Hauraki have your dream sorted.

While most Landmark franchisees have come from the building industry, director Will Quigley was previously a farmer, businessman and personal trainer. He joined Landmark in 2010 after a stint in the US, and has found that his background is just right for the role.

Will and business partner Nigel Watson added the Landmark Homes Coromandel and Hauraki to their Hamilton and Waikato franchise in 2018, and thoroughly enjoy the incredible diversity that the Coromandel has to offer.

With Will handling the clients, Nigel takes care of the technical side. A lifelong builder, qualified carpenter and previously the owner of his own building company, Nigel is an expert on home construction.

Building styles in the Coromandel tend to be a real mixture, says Will. Homes can range from classic Kiwi baches to million-dollar homes overlooking the water. There’s a strong demand from retirees looking to spend their leisure years by the sea, but also plenty of folk who just want a beautiful beachside getaway.

Any home near the beach is, of course, ‘the Kiwi dream’ – and one that the Landmark Homes team love to make happen with a coastal flavor. Will and Nigel take care of everything from consents and earthworks to landscaping the garden.

“We help them with the whole process, right from the beginning. Someone who’s never built before can be confident about talking with us and we’ll walk them through it all,” says Will.

“It’s quite an emotional ride for people. You can tell how excited the clients are when they sign the contract, and so it’s quite a buzz when you finally hand the keys over.”

There's something very down-to-earth but also perfect about Nigel Watson's approach to life. For example, his dream alternative career is being an All Black. And why not? His favourite food is a good burger and chips, and in a perfect fantasy world being a prime athlete and eating fast food would belong together. When it comes to building Landmark homes for clients, however, there's no need to create a fantasy world — because giving clients their dreams is entirely within reach. In fact, it's so achievable Nigel can't pick his favourite Landmark home. 'It's all the stunning Landmark homes I have been a part of,' he says. That includes the family home Nigel built with his beautiful wife Liana, where they get to entertain and relax in the country. And if their wedding vows are anything to go by, the Watson house isn't short on entertainment. 'I haven't laughed so hard since my wife said, "I take you James Bond," in our wedding vows.' We can tell you this — Nigel’s neither shaken nor stirred!

Will Quigley

Will Quigley lived and owned a business in the US before joining Landmark in 2011, and his go-get-em attitude and positive take on absolutely everything smacks of someone who has arrived from Stateside. He loves the same attitude in others too — nothing inspires him more than happy, positive people with a smile on their face. 'My dream client is someone that knows what they want and has an unlimited budget,' Will says. And don't we all. Will doesn't stop there. Will loves it when a client has built up so much trust that they let Landmark do what we do best — build great homes. ‘Then they’re still your best friend at the completion.' That last thing is the point for Will — building the absolute best home for someone in a way that makes them more than a client. 'I'm the most likely Landmark person to never settle for mediocrity,' Will says. 'I'm always wanting to be better.' We couldn't agree more — and it's a trait that benefits everyone around him.

Joshua Williamson

New Home Consultant since 2016

There's something very calming about Joshua Williamson, which is perfect when a client is stressing about their new home. We figure it has a lot to do with the three Bs in Josh's life: Boo (pictured), Bert and Bruno, the three dogs he shares with his husband. 'They're my children,' he says. 'I have always loved animals.' So much so that if Josh wasn't selling homes for Landmark he'd probably be fulfilling his alternative dream career — dog sitter. So much else is peaceful about Josh's life too. He draws inspiration from the arts, loves cake, dreams of travelling through Europe, and is most proud of the family he has created. His dream house is something mid-century inspired and his favourite Landmark home is the Northlake. 'My dream client is someone excited to work with Landmark Homes,' Josh says. And when they get to work with Josh, that's an absolute guarantee.
