Bay of Plenty Franchise Spotlight

With its beautiful beachside suburbs of Mt Maunganui and Papamoa and family friendly attractions such as McLaren Falls, the Bay of Plenty has drawn newcomers from all over New Zealand for many years.

We spoke with Landmark Homes Bay of Plenty franchisees Logan and Carly Stewart to find out more about what’s happening in their business and this popular region.

Tell us about your new Showhome

Our brand-new Showhome has been built in the beautiful subdivision of Palm Springs in Papamoa. We’re very excited about the house which was inspired by the Landmark Homes Cambridge Ready to Build plan, but with a few changes to suit the site and location. The home is in a street of 11 Showhomes, but we’re very proud to say that we believe ours is among the top 3 in terms of quality, style and wow factor.

The home is styled as a Balinese retreat over two levels with some very impressive landscaping. We wanted the home to demonstrate the full package to potential homeowners – not only impeccable quality and craftsmanship inside but extending to the landscaping around the home too.

We hear you’re entered in this year’s Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards?

Yes, this year we have two great homes entered. The House of the Year Awards is a prestigious competition which recognises and celebrates building excellence. This year, the awards event is being held on 26 November, so watch this space!

What’s been happening in your business over the past year?

It’s been another busy one for the Bay of Plenty team with over 20 houses currently in the build process and due for completion over the next 6-12 months.

We’ve also expanded our team to 10 full-time staff. We’ve got a fantastic team of experts that bring together some incredibly valuable experience for our clients. Having the extra team members on board means we’re in a good position to manage the excellent numbers of builds we’re seeing come through.

We understand you’ve got a new office in the pipeline?

That’s right, we’re currently building a brand-new office space in the Tauriko Business Estate. We’re undertaking a full fit-out with new offices and a large warehouse which will provide us with room for growth as well as storage.

We’re expecting to move in this September which is very exciting for our growing team.

What’s your advice for anyone currently considering a new build in Tauranga or the wider Bay of Plenty?

Because new sites are becoming increasingly difficult to find, a popular alternative for homeowners planning a build in Tauranga is utilising our Remove and Rebuild service. This gives owners the opportunity to buy an existing property, then demolish the home and build brand new. Now is a great time to do exactly that – buying a home now while the prices have settled. Then over the next few months, they can start putting together ideas and planning. By the time they’re ready to take their plans to council, the supply chain issues will have settled and they’ll be ready to go.

Logan’s tip:

We expect that supply chain shortages will start to ease toward the end of the year with products like GIB back in stock – and possibly overstocked – within a few months. That means that now is the time for anyone thinking about a new build to start putting their plans into place before demand starts to increase again.
